- Allow up to seven days for the council to process the permit application.
- To keep the skip on the road longer, the skip company must reapply for another permit.
- Any skip on a Doncaster road must come from a council-approved skip hire company.
- At night or in bad weather, a road skip needs amber flashing lights and cones on the approach side.
Getting a skip in Doncaster
Parking around Christ Church in Doncaster is mixed. It runs from three-storey terraces near the church to semis and detached villas farther northeast. If your home has a drive, the skip can go there with no permit. Christ Church Road, Park Road and Regent Terrace are in the Doncaster Central resident parking scheme, so ask the skip company where on the street your skip can stand. A 4 yard midi takes up less kerb space outside a terrace.
Farther out, Bessacarr and Cantley either side of Bawtry Road are mostly post-war private housing on quieter closes. Intake is a 1950s and 1960s council estate with long avenues off Sandall Beat Road. Where your house has a drive, an 8 yard large can sit on it for a garage or kitchen clear-out with no permit. The Thorne Road conservation area is mainly two-storey homes from the late 1800s and early 1900s, with some three-storey ones. Check for space off the street before you book.
For a few bags of rubble, Doncaster's recycling centres take hardcore, rubble and soil at no charge, up to 300 litres or a standard car boot load once a week. Plasterboard goes to Armthorpe only, under the same limit. Beyond a boot load, you'll want a 6 yard builders skip or a smaller one for heavy waste such as patio slabs or a bathroom strip-out.

Nobody wants fly-tipping in Doncaster. Whoever takes your waste, make sure they’re a licensed waste carrier. The skip companies on this site all are.
By law you’re responsible for your waste even after it’s collected. If it’s dumped and traced back to you, you can be fined.

Questions
- Do I need a permit for a skip in Doncaster?
- Only if it goes on the road. A skip on your drive needs none. On the road, the skip company applies to the council at £21 per permit, and processing can take up to seven days, so book with time to spare.
- Is there a charge for an unlicensed skip on a Doncaster street?
- There is. The council makes a retrospective charge when it finds a skip on the highway without a licence. It also charges if it's called out to make a skip safe or to light an unlit one.
- How much rubble will Doncaster's recycling centres accept each week?
- Up to 300 litres, about a standard car boot load, once a week. Hardcore, rubble and soil go at no charge within that limit. For a patio or bathroom job beyond a boot load, a 6 yard builders skip at £245 takes the heavy waste.
- Will a skip fit outside a South Parade terrace in Doncaster?
- It depends on your frontage. South Parade is mostly Georgian three-storey terraces and individual buildings. With no space off the street, your skip goes on the road under a permit. A 4 yard midi at £185 keeps the footprint small.
- Is a green bin better than a skip for Bessacarr garden waste?
- For cuttings through the year, an extra green bin is the simpler choice at £45 a year for the first one. A one-off garden clearance at a Bessacarr or Cantley close suits a skip, from a 4 yard midi upward.
