When a 40 yard skip makes sense
A 40 yard has the same footprint as a 20 yard but stands far taller, around 2.4 metres. It’s made for large amounts of light, bulky waste: packaging, foam, furniture, timber and clear-out waste.
The height makes it hard to load by hand over the side. Most people load through the end door, or with a forklift, telehandler or conveyor on site.
It’s a poor choice for heavy waste. A 40 yard full of rubble would weigh several times what the lorry can legally carry, so companies limit what goes in.
