20 yard skip hire
A 20 yard skip is a roll-on roll-off container, not an ordinary skip. It holds about as much as three builders skips and has a door at one end, so you can walk waste in.

Is a 20 yard skip a RoRo?
Yes. Ordinary skips top out at 12 or 14 yards, because a skip lorry lifts them on chains. A 20 yard container is too big for that, so it’s delivered by a hook-lift lorry that rolls it on and off.
That changes what you need on site. The lorry needs more room, the ground has to be firm, and the container usually goes on private land rather than the road.
The lower sides of a 20 yard (around 1.5 metres) make it the easiest RoRo to load by hand, which is why it’s the usual choice for building sites and strip-outs.
What fits in a 20 yard skip
- Waste from a commercial strip-out or shopfit
- Timber, packaging and offcuts from a building site
- A large house clearance with furniture
- Old ceilings, partitions and flooring from an office
- Green waste from a big garden or landscaping job
- Light mixed building waste over several weeks
Space you need
- About 15 metres of straight, level ground for the lorry and container
- Firm hardstanding, not grass or block paving
- Clear height of around 7 metres, with no cables or branches
- A clear way in and out for a large lorry
What can go in
